A more affordable handmade Irish bouzouki

At the back end of 2024 I asked players to help me design a Session King Irish bouzouki – a more affordable hand made Irish bouzouki. Thanks to all of you who filled in the form which helped me settle on what prototypes to build for the 2025 batch.

As it was I ended up building two prototypes, one with an arched top and floating bridge, and another with a flat top and fixed bridge.

Last week I went up to Brisbane to see Martin Reese and Christian Rizzalli. So a big thanks to the pair of them for helping me make these videos. Below you will see Christian putting the Session King bouzoukis through their paces.

I was very happy with how both of these instruments turned out, and we recorded them in an identical fashion, so if you put your headphones on you’ll be best placed to see which you prefer.
