This is one of the last Session King tenor guitars I made whilst in Germany. And she’s a beauty – a high gloss, Western red cedar and mahogany T-SKadv. Ebony fretboard, ebonised bridge, rocklite veneers and heel cap, Waverley tuners, bone nut and saddle. It’s not often an ex-demo Session King tenor guitar comes up for sale, but this one has.
I hope I get a few more orders for cedar (Thuja plicata) tenor guitars, the wood is a pain to work with (it’s so soft) but I love the sound – the roughness of cedar really suits tenor guitars. I might well prefer it to the spruce ones if I’m honest. Apparently, cedar doesn’t improve as much as spruce over time, but that’s fine. This tenor sounds great right now. And not every customer feels they have 5 years to wait!
If you wanted to order a Session King Advanced tenor guitar you’d be looking at an 18-24 month wait right now. So, if you’re in the market for one, now is the time to act. It’s a magnificent sounding guitar and you’ll not be disappointed. The banjo player in your band might be though…
