NK Forster Model D – handmade acoustic guitar with warmth & clarity

The Model D is a similar size to my Model S guitar but with a wide waist that gives the sound a wonderful warmth. If you’re a fingerstyle player then go for the D-SS with its clarity and power. If you’re a player who uses a pick, the Model D-SKAdv is for you.

This is the Model that recently sold for rather a lot at the Christies Mark Knopfler auction. I’d be happy to make one just like it for you.

I bought a Model D-SS from Nigel some years ago. I'd scoured the guitar shops and played guitars by other well known makers but decided Nigel's guitar suited me best with a mellow sound and easily enough volume for a Session.

    Soundboard – mature seasoned European spruce or Western red cedar.

    Back and sides – there are many options - mahogany, maple, figured mahogany, wenge, ziricote or figured bubinga.

    Neck - New Guinea rosewood, American maple or upgrade with 1908 vintage Cuban mahogany

    Fretboard - fine Sri Lanka ebony or ancient bog oak.

    Bridge - rocklite ebano.

    Tuners - Gold Gotoh 510.

    Frets - hand polished Evo gold frets.

    Nut and saddle - hand polished bone.
